I was going to let this domain die a natural death when my account was due for expiration on the 25th November 2008, when I received the following email on the 18th November 2008,
Hello Tony,
We are sending you this email to inform you of the termination of your account for the domain prematurely due to the domain hosted as an add-on domain mdwebhostingsucks.com. We would appreciate you discontinue the use of the domain as it has damaged our company reputation.We do realise you have suffered a variety of issues whilst hosting through our company which arose when we had a major outage earlier in the year. If you believe you have not been provided the service you paid for we urge you to voice any issues to our customer service team or management rather than voicing your point of view over the internet.We are very willing to resolve any issues you have with MD Web Hosting and I personally would like to speak to you regarding them at your earliest convenience.

So yes they deleted my account before the due date. That really ticked me off as it had taken me about 5 attempts to get them to acknowledge that I wanted to close my account at the end of its paid in full term. After reading this thread about MD Web Hosting sending out debt collectors http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=991991 I decided to act straight away. Firstly they accepted it and then they told me I couldn’t cancel it until a week before it was due for renewal (which by the way was against their TOS as you had to give more than 7 days notice for closing an account) This went on week by week until the 21th November when they finally seemed to accept that I wanted to close the account.
When they deleted my account they gave me no warning no time to get a backup (thankfully google had indexed all the pages). So now it is back up and hopefully warning other web masters to be weary if they are going to deal with MD Web Hosting.

I moved some of my sites from smarty to these guys a while back, must be at least a year or more now.
Never had any issues at all. I don't have anything there that i really would be worried about losing, but I must say they have been great so far.

Good on ya Tony! Their support takes several weeks to get back to you even when you do add a ticket! I recently bought web hosting and I regret it! What a waste of time!
Their ticket system sucks, they take several weeks to get back to you and who can afford to sit on the phone for hours! I got given a google adwords voucher after I requested it several times and it was expired!
I am now waiting for them to give me another after several support tickets and a phone call in which they tried to sell me services! What a joke!
I was going to set-up a site outlining my experiences with MD Web Hosting, but you have saved me the time!
I have never experienced such terrible service. They deleted my site for 6 days, then recovered an old version that was missing all our new products and all sales data. We have missed out on over $1,000 in lost sales and will have to spend that much again updating the site. Never, ever use MD Web Hosting – they are the worst company I have ever deal with.
Michael thanks for the comments. I actually never received my google adwords voucher even though it was part of the deal both times I joined up. I hope you get yours and its not expired this time.
Blair I am very sorry for your losses running ecommerce sites myself I know how it feels when one of them goes down and it has nothing to do with you.
